Welcome to English III!
In this Academic level course, we will focus on building skills that align with WHS graduation standards through the study of classic and contemporary American fiction, select non-fiction texts, poetry, and film. We will practice research skills with a career/college focused project. Through this exploration of literature, we will identify themes and seek to better understand American society across different time periods, as well as ourselves and the role of individuals in society. You will be expected to be a conscientious reader, writer, thinker, and participant in this class.

Given restrictions on shared materials this year, each student should come to class prepared with the following:

- 3-ring binder (1-1/2 inch)
- Divider tabs (with pockets as you will work on paper!)
- Lined white paper
- Spiral notebook or journal
- Pens/pencil/highlighters
